Setting The Standard — Session 09

Feedback

Feed up, feedback and feed forward — and how to make feedback improve future learning rather than simply judge past work.

This session explores the research of Professor Dylan Wiliam and Professor Helen Timperley on effective feedback. Participants examine the concepts of feed up, feedback and feed forward, understanding how each helps students move from their current level of performance towards successful learning.

The module also explores the remaining principles of Dylan Wiliam's formative assessment framework, including providing feedback that moves learners forward, activating students as learning resources for one another and developing students as owners of their own learning.

By the end of the session, teachers will understand how to provide feedback that is timely, purposeful and focused on improving future learning rather than simply evaluating past performance.

Nine sessions. One standard of excellence.

Setting The Standard is our CPD programme for teachers, accredited by The CPD Standards Office — nine sessions, 27 masterclass videos, in English and Arabic.
